Dropping an year ....A right step or not?

WRITTEN ESPECIALLY FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS....

After 12th standard ,bulk of students appear for entrance exams all across the country for securing seats in the well renowned colleges of the country. While few will be able to make it to their dream destinations majority are left heartbroken due to rigorous competition. At that moment the first idea that comes to one's mind is taking an year drop. Mark my words taking an year drop is a subjective matter and very crucial from your future point of view. You should not go for a drop until and unless you are almost sure of your success the next year that is you are firmly determined about your target ,  in fact very firmly determined. Now let me tell you what exactly happens. Once we are confirmed that we won't we able to make it to required college or branch we tend to stop thinking logically. We are guided by our emotions and our heart prompts us to take a drop ,we feel motivated that we will surely make it the next time without even thinking about the negative side of it. For instance here I Would like to mention the case of one of my seniors. He got 3457 rank in  the JEE- MAINS but could not make to IIT. He decided to go for  drop although he was easily getting COMPUTER SCIENCE in DTU.  First of all he got completely exhausted and bored while preparing for his entrance .He used to regret over decision when he used to see his school friends and coaching mates in college giving semesters and he studying class 11th and 12th course. Somehow the time passed and came JEE-MAINS the next year. Luck played with him and he had typhoid and couldn't even appear for the exam. What I mean to convey is when you are getting an opportunity avail it rather than letting it go.You can't predict what future has in store for you.Only 1% of the total students who take a drop are able to make it well ,rest all land themselves in even more worse situations. Almost all the students who go for a drop, remain motivated for 2-3 months, no doubt they will study well but after that most go off track. Not their fault even .It's not easy to repeat two year course with same dedication and concentration. It is a challenging task. What I suggest is until and unless you are in extremely worse situation ie not getting any branch in any of the renowned colleges eg IIT , DTU ,NSIT,BITS, IIIT ,NIT do not go for a drop.Branch do matters but college's tag name matters a lot. When you land into world outside people would know you for your college name ie even environmental engineering from DTU is justified .Let me make one more thing clear here that taking up COMPUTER SCIENCE OR RELATED BRANCH even in IP is not a bad option, But do prefer college over branch .Some people may contradict me on this that it is better to pursue your passion rather than college but here I would like to mention that at the end when you will be appearing for placement interviews it will be college that will get you a handsome package,Until and unless you are hard core coder .At last I would just like to say that before taking any final decision consult , consult people whom U think will guide you for your best, your trustworthy people, and avoid taking to too many because that will land you in further more confusions. Life is full of opportunities and one entrance alone can't decide your future . You are meant to get number of opportunities in the future to excel yourself ,You just need to identify them and use them to the fullest and make the best of them.So think not even twice ,ten times before you arrive at a decision. Analyse your strengths and potentials carefully and decide .Carefully think over your situation and if you feel yes you are in worst possible case then confidently drop with a promise to yourself to give you best.

ALL THE BEST.  BE WISE AND BE CALM , CONSULT AND MAKE A RIGHT DECISION.
